About Simonds Stadium/Kardinia Park

Kardinia Park was first proclaimed a public park in May 1872 and now boasts six grandstands and the Gary Ablett Terrace. There are plans to develop the other side of the ground, to make it a state of the art, all-seater ground. This will further increase its ability to host international-standard events and bring more tourism to Geelong.

Kardinia Park has undergone a number of name changes over the years. A succession of naming-rights deals has meant that in the past it has been called Shell Stadium, Baytec Stadium and Skilled Stadium. It currently goes by Simonds Stadium and hosts many sports, including AFL, domestic cricket, pre-season rugby league, rugby union and soccer matches.
