An award-winning comedian, actor, writer and director, Chris Rock is undoubtedly talented and hilarious. And in 2017 Chris Rock visits Australia as part of his Total Blackout world tour, giving audiences the chance to see his upfront and in-your-face comedy stylings in person.

Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth are all lucky enough to score a date on Chris Rock’s full-scale world tour – his first in nine years. It all kicks off in Perth on Friday 23 June before heading to Brisbane for Saturday 24 June, Melbourne on Monday 26 June and finishing up in Sydney on Wednesday 28 June.

Chris Rock has been making people laugh since the 80s, scoring his first film role (after steadily rising in the comedy scene ranks) thanks to a chance meet with Eddie Murphy who cast him in Beverly Hills Cop II.

Since then he has had us in fits with his comedy talents in both writing and performing with stints on Saturday Night Live, a variety of comedy specials, movies and even his very own shows.

Renowned for tackling the tricky subjects, Chris Rock dissects race, politics, money and relationships, simultaneously giving his audience a fresh, honest perspective and a near blackout from laughter.

A highlight reel for someone like Chris Rock could go for hours, but we’ve put together just a handful of his best lines about his favourite comedy subject: life.

1. Chris Rock on the world

“You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America’s Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn’t want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named ‘Bush’, ‘Dick’ and ‘Colin.’ Need I say more?”

2. Chris Rock on his mum

“My mother was real cheap. OK, practical. She would never pay a bill on time. ‘If they ain’t cutting it off, I ain’t paying’, she would say, ‘The first bill is a suggestion. If they really want you to pay it, then they’ll come and tap on your window’. Her whole philosophy of life was: if you die owing money, then you’ve won.”

3. Chris Rock on fame

“Yeah, I love being famous. It’s almost like being white, y’know?”

4. Chris Rock on relationships

“Married guys know more about women than single guys. Single guys have girlfriends. Girlfriends are always auditioning, always on their best behavior. Wives are like Supreme Court justices. They do whatever the f--- they want.”

5. Chris Rock on police

“I had a cop pull me over the other day, scared me so bad, made me think I stole my own car. ‘Get out of the car, get out of the f------ car! You stole this car!’ I was like, ‘Damn, maybe I did!’”
