The AFL finals are just around the corner and the race for the premiership is as wide open as ever.

We’ve seen a bit of an unusual season in 2017 – potentially one of the most even in AFL history, so when it comes to the finals it may be wise to expect the unexpected.

Young talent time

Could it really be a first-time Sydney-only Grand Final? With the Swans’ crosstown rivals, the GWS Giants, finishing the home and away season in the top 4, only time will tell… The young Giants might lack finals experience, but the same could’ve been said for the Bulldogs last year.

Consistency is key

Last but most certainly not least are the Adelaide Crows. The most consistent team all year, they’ve more than earned their double chance and home Qualifying Final. The Crows are a force to be reckoned with, even moreso at home. If Rory Sloane and the midfield brigade can get enough ball to Adelaide's dangerous forwards, the Crows could go all the way to Premiership glory.
